The kick-starter of the trend, Emily Ratajkowski debuted her divorce rings on Instagram in early 2024 following her 2022 divorce from Sebastian Bear-McClard, with whom she shares a son. The model repurposed her dual-stone engagement ring, a toi et moi (“you and me”), into two rings. “The rings represent my own personal evolution,” Ratajkowski told Vogue. “I don’t think a woman should be stripped of her diamonds just because she’s losing a man.”
