Though it’s one of the most talked-about roles in the film industry, we rarely ever get concrete information on the casting process for the part of James Bond. Naturally, it’s been no different since Daniel Craig made his bow in No Time to Die.
With rumoured names ranging from Aaron Taylor-Johnson to Idris Elba, one actor who has become increasingly linked with the part in recent times is Callum Turner, and the star has now addressed this speculation.
At the 76th Berlin International Film Festival, where he is promoting the upcoming thriller Rosebush Pruning, Turner was asked by a reporter about the Bond situation, with the journalist adding that it may be good to “get it out of the way”.
Turner, however, remained coy on the subject, saying (via Variety): “You’re right, it’s very early for that question. I’m not going to comment on it.” Tracy Letts, his co-star from Rosebush Pruning, interjected and said jokingly that he was the next 007.
While we’re still no closer to knowing who will assume the role of Ian Fleming’s MI6 spy, we do know some of the creative team for the upcoming 26th film in the franchise, with Denis Villeneuve directing from a screenplay by Steven Knight.

Knight, who is best known for creating Peaky Blinders and SAS: Rogue Heroes, confirmed in September that he was penning the script without an actor in mind, saying: “We’ll see, we’ll see… You don’t know what’s going to happen until you start writing.”
“It has always been on my bucket list and it’s fantastic to be invited to do it – I can’t wait to get started,” he said in a previous statement upon his announcement as the screenwriter of the project.

“I’m hoping that, being a Bond fan for so many years, it will be imbued into me and I will be able to produce something that’s the same but different, better, stronger and bolder,” he added.
The upcoming film is the first in the spy series since Amazon took over the franchise, with long-time producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson subsequently stepping away after a deal was reached.
