Lively weekend, Valentines and President Day, with lots to see and a string of nice numbers.

Neon’s Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie is eyeijng an estimated $1.25 million for the 3 days and a projected $1.4 million for the 4-day frame on 365 screens. When their plan to book a show at the Rivoli goes horribly wrong, Matt and Jay (Matt Johnson, Jay McCarrol) accidentally travel back to the year 2008. This is Certified Fresh 97% with Rotten Tomatoes critics and 96% with audiences.

Week 2 of A24’s Pillion by Harry Lighton had a solid expansion to 24 screen eyeing $350.9k for the three days and $408.2k over the 4 days. That’s a projected cume through Sunday of$699k and, through Monday, of $756k. The Cannes Un Certain Regard Best Screenplay winner starring Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling played well across all markets with sold out shows and strong word of mouth.

Doing nicely on over 1,000 screens is Samuel Goldwyn Films’ Cold Storage, earning $1.1 million for the 3 days and a projected $1.3 million for the 4 days at 1,041 theaters  When a mutating, highly contagious fungus escapes a sealed facility, two young employees – joined by a grizzled bioterror operative – must survive the wildest night shift ever to save humanity from extinction. 

A24’s The Moment with Charli xcx added 538 theaters in week 3 for 1,119 runs with $447.9k for the 3 days and $527.4 for the 4 days for a domestic total through Sunday of $3.4 million and a projected cume through Monday pushing $3.5 million. By Aidan Zamiri who also co-wrote the film based on an original idea by the pop star.

In wide release, indies Solo Mio from Angel Studios, Briarcliff’s Good Luck Have Fund, Don’t Die, Markiplier’s self-distributed Iron Lung and Dracula from Vertical are standing at nos. 5, 7, 9 and 10, respectively.

Neon’s The Secret Agent, one of the best liked films of the season, now in playweek 12, is eyeing $149k for the four-day weekend for a cume of $3.8 million. The distributor has Sirat on 7 screens ($244k cume in week 2); Arco on 55 screens ($931k cume, week 4); No Other Choice on 76 screens ($9.8 million cume in week 8) and Sentimental Value on 206 screens (circa $5 million, week 15).

Limited: Kokuho from Gkids, a live action juggernaut in Japan, is at on 5 screens in week 2 with an estimated $32.7k for the 4 days and a cume of $180.7k.

In week 3, Janus Films’ release of The Love That Remains grossed an estimated $32k on 25 screens fo a new cume of $86.7k for the four-day weekend

Noting: The Testament of Ann Lee from Searchlight Pictures is still at 80 locations and grossed $41k in week 8 with a cume through Monday pushing $2.5 million.

Willa’s The Voice of Hind Rajab, in theaters since Dec. 17, had an$18.k weekend on 55 screens for a cume of $813k.

A Poet from 1-2 Special, in week 3, grossed $32.7 from 27 for a cume date of $153.7k.
