“I want Brooklyn just to take a moment to yourself and just remember you’re half-mum, half-dad,” Gordon told the Sun in a Feb. 13 interview. “You’re an amazing young man, but boy, they’ve done more for you than anyone will do in your entire life… any father-in-law, let me tell you.”

Then, after years of speculation about the feud within the family, Brooklyn shared a six-part Instagram story that revealed some of the rumors about the tension between his parents and his marriage may have been all too real on his end. “My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped. Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children,” he wrote in one of the IG stories.

Brooklyn continued, “My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one. My mum has repeatedly invited women from my past into our lives in ways that were clearly intended to make us both uncomfortable.”
“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private,” he continued. “Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed. I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”

“The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety,” Brooklyn added. “For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief. My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.”

The world-renowned chef and reality star admitted in the interview that he found the entire feud in the Beckham family shocking, having been close to them for decades. “Their relationship with Brooklyn was solid,” he said. “I’ve seen first-hand just how good of parents they are.”

“It’s hard when you enter that age in life when you join with another family,” Gordon explained. “There’s a different dynamic going on, and so there was bound to be some form of clash. But the relationship between David and Brooklyn is very, very deep, and I know how much David loves Brooklyn. I think it’s only going to be a matter of time before Brooklyn takes a good look at himself and understands just ‘what they mean for me.'”

“It’s easy to get up on that rollercoaster, isn’t it, and get carried away,” Gordon offered, “But it will come back because I know how many times they’ve pulled him out of the shit. I know how many times they’ve absolutely stood by him through thick and thin.” Gordon proposed that “time’s going to be the best healer,” and that Brooklyn will eventually make amends with his dad.

After the recent IG stories bombshell, Gordon said he’s spoken with Brooklyn about his family. “We’ve messaged a little bit. It’s a very difficult situation,” he revealed. “And listen, I love him. His heart is incredible, but it’s hard, isn’t it, when you’re infatuated. Love is blind. They say it for that reason.”

“So, he’s desperate to stand on his own two feet, he’s desperate to forge his own way — and I respect that from Brooklyn. And that’s such a good thing to do. But remember where you came from, and honestly, one day you’re not going to have your mum and dad, and you need to understand that,” Gordon said, acknowledging a similar dynamic he had with the parents of his wife, Tana Ramsay.
