EXCLUSIVE: Walton Goggins (The White Lotus) has come aboard to lead action-comedy Mister from Bright White Light and John Wick outfit Thunder Road. Chloë Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass) will co-star.

As we previously reported, the film will mark the directorial debut of well known second unit and action director Wade Eastwood, whose credits include Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Mission: Impossible – Fallout and Jumanji: The Next Level.

Josh Brolin had been formerly aboard to star but has had to bow out due to unforeseen scheduling issues. Filming gets underway next month in Madrid.

Mister “follows a man (Goggins) who wakes up in a strange house covered in blood and comes to realize his true identity while fighting off contract killers from his past — including everyone from his exes to his best friend. To get out, he teams up with his estranged daughter (Moretz) who also has ended up in the family business, but they will need to repair their relationship in order to survive”. Additional casting is in process.

Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee produce for Thunder Road alongside Goggins. Nicki Cortese, who also penned the script with Nick Inglis, will produce with Wayne Marc Godfrey for Bright White Light (Runner), which also is financing the film.

Executive producers include Chase Vergari, Ibrahim Mohammed, Eric Handler, Will Flynn, and Sophie Meyer who will oversee for Bright White Light. Black Bear represents international rights on the film, with CAA Media Finance handling domestic.

The A-list crew includes DoP Henry Braham (Superman) and production designer Nigel Phelps (Thor: Love And Thunder).

Justified and The Hateful Eight star Goggins was recently Emmy and Golden Globe nominated for his performance in The White Lotus. He is due to start filming the third season of hit Amazon show Fallout later this year.

Kick-Ass and The Equalizer star Moretz will next be seen in rom-com Love Language, and thriller The Edge Of Normal, the first English-language feature from director Carlota Pereda (Piggy). She recently returned to the stage in the off-Broadway play Caroline.

Producer Basil Iwanyk told Deadline: “Walton and Chloë are the perfect pairing to capture Mister’s heart and humor — while delivering some of the most ambitious and wildly entertaining action sequences audiences will see on screen this year.”

Director Wade Eastwood told us: “From our first conversations, I knew Walton would bring an unpredictable spark you simply can’t manufacture — he’s electric. Chloë brings an incredible mix of strength, vulnerability and razor-sharp timing. Together, they make Mister exactly what we set out to create: bold, funny and completely full-throttle.”

Goggins is repped by CAA and Darris Hatch Management. Moretz is represented by CAA and Sloane, Offer.
