Getting a day off as a homemaker is a pretty rare and glamorous occasion! So I wanted to show you ways that I’m caring for myself and sprinkling in little things for “me” right in the middle of my homemaking! It’s not selfish. The kids actually benefit. And it makes me love my job as a homemaker all the more.
Instead of waiting for free time, I’m learning to treat myself INSIDE real life. Making a colorful fruit water, listening to a fun or uplifting podcast while I start my morning routine, feeding myself food I’m ACTUALLY excited to put in my mouth, and doing things I love (like thrifting) right along side my kids. Slow living isn’t really for me in this stage of life, but I’m learning to view my tasks that way a little bit more. So maybe not slow living, but glow living? Heehee. You’re about to see what I mean! Welcome to episode 7/8 of my series Homemaking by Heart.

Such a powerful intro ❤ My life got so much easier when I understood that it's not selfish to consider myself as one of the peoole I want to take care of.
hi megan, I like your earbuds! what's your favorite morning ritual?
Are there ways you look after yourself even in the middle of busy days as a homemaker? I mean, sure, a tropical getaway would definitely brighten my day, but . . . .😂
When my daughter (17) and I want to go anywhere without my 3 sons (twins 10 and singleton 16)we tell them we going to the fabric (material) store. Verna Damons South Africa
Your videos are always so inspiring! Iv had string cheese on replay!
I love the whole “Martyr Mom” reference here! It’s so easy to fall into that crack without realizing it! Something we definitely don’t want to instill or have our kids see of us! Good reminder to treat ourselves as a person and model to our kids that making time for ourselves isn’t selfish but healthy and needed! A good balance of work and play equals a rested mind!
Your vlogs are always so refreshing!! The salmon dinner looked absolutely delicious!!
Maybe you said but I'm wondering why the Christmas tree is still up?
Those dresses are so not modest. They are very see through. Very pretty though.
Another great Homemaking By Heart episode!! ❤️ I often forget to add fun things for myself, but you're so right, our kids need to see us having fun too!
I also loved the ending geode analogy!! So true!
Hey girl- Ooh looks like a good one! Starting to watch😘
I love this, takes care of myself! I try to keep everyone else happy
🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏
There is a force of darness, something that always wants us to leave our homes and get out there Do not and I mean do not get along with it.
Megan, it’s such a joy to watch your growth and maturity. You are doing a fantastic job!
The cardigan matches the fabric from the store! So fun!
Sorry about you having a miscarriage…that's traumatic for both of you
You're creative…add pockets!! Wahlah……
Baylor on the computer looked like a little business man 🙂
Sarah from Our Tribe of Many just tried a homemade hair gel made from flaxseeds for her hair (her newest vlog). She loved it and said it worked very well to help with ber curls and hydrate her hair. Maybe an idea to check out for Evonnie.
Great video and I am hoping a lot of the newlyweds and mommies and middle ages pick up on this. !00% a great video. Even at 79 I need to head those words. I tend to treat myself more than I ever did while raising my children and helping with the grandchildren now great grands………but I have learned to say "no"…bow out at some things and take ME time. 🙂
Enjoying this Homemaking by Heart series. Thank you for pouring so much into your channel. Also. just wanted to say how much I love the sweater you thrifted on you. It looks lovely on you and looks cozy too.
for far to many years I needed to be made to feel special. My kids did what they could on Mothers day my husband did the obligatory Birthday . Now I am older and I finally figured out I need to learn to fill my own cup so I can help others fill theirs. Some things are taking mini classes to learn and develop my talents. This also helps my family and others in many ways. I love showing my kids and my neighbors The gifts and talents I am learning and it sets the example for others that self development can bless other and that is such a good feeling. Love yourself so you can bless others and the glory is Gods.
Love these episodes……thank you.
Love these episodes……thank you.
I never comment on videos but each video of this series has hit the nail on the head with everything I have been trying to sift through as a first time mom. I’m 26 with a 12 month old and boy, this one hit home too. Schedules, food prep, money management is everything that stays on my mind. I only work 1-2 days a week with a flexible schedule so I would say I’m still more homemaker than working mom and I love it but even on my true off day this week, I spent it calculating diaper costs, clothes shopping etc for him. I stay on the verge of burnout but I’m not sure how to even go out and do something for myself anymore. Watching this in the shower as I review this hard toddler day and it has encouraged me! Thank you Megan ❤
This video brightened my day, thank you Megan ❤️❤️❤️
Yes to treating yourself with the kids around and just being happy with it. I am only kid-free about 2x/year and my kids are used to just coming wherever I go. They think the thrift store and coffee shops are awesome ha ha. Self care isn't some big grand moment. It's just being at peace wherever you are.
Enjoyed the video; thank you for taking us along! I’d love to go with you to the fabric store~it seems all the close ones around here have closed.
