Eric Dane’s girlfriend, Janell Shirtcliff, broke her silence after his death from ALS by sharing an emotional tribute with personal photos and videos on Instagram.
Dane, known for his roles in Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria, was still legally married to Rebecca Gayheart, with whom he shared two daughters, despite their separation years prior.
Following Dane’s passing, friends launched a GoFundMe to support his daughters, receiving significant donations including one from Euphoria creator Sam Levinson.

On Saturday, February 21, the filmmaker and director, 41, took to her Instagram Stories with a series of photos and video clips featuring the late actor. Dane died at 53 on February 19 following a battle with ALS.
In the first image, Dane smiled next to a palm tree while wearing a blue T-shirt and sunglasses.

A second image showed the “McSteamy” actor kissing Shirtcliff on her head as she closed her eyes and they stood on the steps of a building.

For a third snap, the couple smiled for a selfie while riding in what looked like a golf cart.

Another shot showed Shirtcliff in a floral dress and Dane in a red, white, and blue jacket, a white undershirt, and gold pants.

Meanwhile, yet another photo featured Dane laughing in a black-and-white shot.

Shirtcliff also posted a picture of her late boyfriend posing next to a horse while wearing a cowboy hat.

Finally, Dane kissed Shirtcliff’s shoulder as they posed for a selfie for a different picture.

Additionally, Shirtcliff included two clips — one featuring her and Dane riding together in a golf cart and another of Dane with a little girl.
Dane was still legally married to his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, at the time of his death, although they separated years ago. In March 2025, Gayheart withdrew her 2018 divorce filing shortly before Dane publicly announced his ALS diagnosis in April. They married in 2004 and welcomed two daughters, Bille, 15, and Georgia, 14.
In June 2025, Dane and Shirtcliff made their red carpet debut at the Countdown premiere. They reportedly dated on and off for several years before his death.
Shirtcliff’s social media tribute came on the heels of Dane’s friends organizing a GoFundMe campaign to help support Billie and Georgia, with Euphoria creator Sam Levinson donating a jaw-dropping amount.
