The best thing about this reboot is how Chris Hemsworth plays the role of Edward Cullen as a 100 year old vampire who has never really had anything he wanted before now, and how the brooding, intense, magnetic quality of the character draws you in, while also creating a sense of danger around him.
Ryan Reynolds as Jacob Black is a great example of how he can take away his usual charm and show a side of himself that is clearly torn and confused, while still being loyal and, at times, dangerous to those around him, and that he doesn’t even know yet.
What makes this reboot seem so real and emotionally authentic, is the way it keeps things grounded when it comes to the emotional honesty and the supernatural elements. Robert Downey Jr and Kate Winslet bring a level of gravitas and warmth to Carlisle and Esme Cullen as parents, which provides a solid foundation for the entire Cullen family dynamic, and the appearance of nomadic vampires hunting Bella turns a forbidden romance into a fight for survival.
From secret meetings at hidden waterfalls to the brutal final battle at an abandoned saw mill on the outskirts of town, this concept trailer shows what the original saga always strived to capture – a love that is so powerful and so deadly that choosing it will mean that you will never be normal again.
