You weren’t meant to see this. Now you can’t look away. A brand new take on the infamous classic from the 1970s, Faces of Death is being unleashed in theaters on April 10, 2026.
The meta remake of the notorious 1978 faux documentary will open in theaters on April 10 from Independent Film Company and Shudder. Check out the official poster below.
Daniel Goldhaber (Cam) directs from a script he co-wrote with Isa Mazzei (Cam).
Continuing the exploration of the original film’s infamous ‘Is it real or not?’ conceit, Barbie Ferreira (“Euphoria”) stars as a woman working as a content moderator for a major video platform who discovers what appears to be re-enactments of murders from Faces of Death.
In an online world where nothing can be trusted, she must determine whether the violence is fiction or unfolding in real time.
Dacre Montgomery (“Stranger Things”), Josie Totah (“Saved by the Bell”), Jermaine Fowler (Sorry to Bother You), Aaron Holliday (Cocaine Bear), and Charli XCX also star.
“Growing up in a video store culture there are vivid memories of being terrified to even touch the original Faces of Death VHS box,” said RLJE acquisition officer Mark Ward. “That legend haunted a generation, and bringing that fear back to audiences now is both deeply personal and an exciting full-circle moment. We’re in awe of Daniel Goldhaber’s reimagining.”
Faces of Death is rated R for “strong bloody violence and gore, sexual content, nudity, language, and drug use.” Watch the previously released teaser and expect the trailer soon.
