Paramount and Spyglass Entertainment’s “Scream 7” is set to have a hell of a debut when it arrives in cinemas this weekend.

Deadline reports that the film is on track for a worldwide box-office start at over $60 million, the franchise’s second-best opening following 2023’s “Scream VI”.

That previous film opened to $44.4 million domestically and a further $22 million overseas for a $66.4 million worldwide debut.

“Scream 7” faces no real competition this week as it’s the only wide release coming to cinemas this weekend. Its relatively cost-effective $45 million budget also means its profitability looks fairly good.

That said, forecasts in recent weeks have been overly rosy – such as “Wuthering Heights” which was tipped for a $50 million domestic debut but ended up grossing $37.5 million.

The film’s run begins with a special fan event in North America on Thursday evening.
