Tom Holland is swinging back into cinemas this July in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and before that happens, you can now go back to where it all started for him. The Impossible, the real-life disaster drama which marked his first on-screen role, has landed a new streaming home in the UK.
The 2012 movie, which was directed by Spanish filmmaker JA Bayona, is based on the life of María Belón and her family, who found themselves in peril following the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004 while they were spending the Christmas holidays in Khao Lak, Thailand.
María, whose name is changed to Maria Bennett in the film, is played by Naomi Watts. Her husband and three children are played by Ewan McGregor, Holland, Samuel Joslin and Oaklee Pendergast respectively.
If you haven’t seen it or fancy a rewatch, The Impossible has been re-added to Prime Video today after being removed from the streaming service late last year. If you’re not an Amazon Prime member, you can sign up and take advantage of its 30-day free trial.
In addition to being a box office success, grossing over $198 million against a budget of $45 million, The Impossible was a hit with critics, with its rating on Rotten Tomatoes currently standing at 81% from 198 reviews.
