Today, William and Kate’s visit began with a stop at the Hanging Gardens, “a space dedicated to nurturing community resilience and creativity.” The venue operates as a multifaceted hub offering a café, performing arts centre, indoor market, community garden, kitchens and workshop facilities, all centred on principles of sustainable living and artistic expression.

During their stop, the Prince and Princess of Wales met those who volunteer their time to keep the centre operational.

Next they visited Oriel Davies, a public contemporary art gallery, meet a local Welsh learners group in the Gallery Café, and attend a celebration of volunteers at Hafan yr Afon, “a hub for culture, community, and heritage.” At Oriel Davies, a contemporary art gallery in rural Newtown, the couple viewed work produced through a project funded by the Alexandra Reinhardt Memorial Award, which focuses on supporting the mental health and confidence of local children and young people.

The day concluded at Hafan yr Afon, a cultural and heritage centre managed by Open Newtown, where a celebration brought together volunteer groups and community champions from across the region, organised by PAVO, the Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations.
