Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman is close to turning 89, but he says he still feels good and stays positive about aging. The veteran star recently opened up about how he maintains his youthful mindset at 88 years old, despite facing physical challenges and slowing down.

Morgan Freeman spills the secret to staying young

Morgan Freeman recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and shared his simple advice for aging well. Freeman visited the show to promote The Gray House, a Civil War miniseries he produced with Kevin Costner, which premieres March 6. During the interview, he reflected on his career and spoke candidly about how he approaches growing older.

When Fallon asked him about the secret to aging well, he revealed that he follows advice from his longtime friend and co-star Clint Eastwood, who is 95. He said, “Never let the old man in. Don’t let the old man in.” Fallon loved the answer and joked that this is how Freeman stays young.

Fallon also praised Freeman’s famous voice. Many fans call him “the voice of God” because of his role in Bruce Almighty. However, Freeman said he does not see his voice as special. He explained that he briefly studied at Los Angeles City College and took voice and diction classes to better control and strengthen his tone.

Although Morgan Freeman does not consider his voice anything extraordinary, he continues to follow the advice he learned from his friend Clint Eastwood about staying young. He said the mindset has helped him remain active and focused on the present. The two legends worked together in films such as Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby, and Invictus.

At 88, Freeman keeps his mindset simple. He stays grateful, continues working, and refuses to “let the old man in,” choosing optimism and purpose every single day.
