2024’s In A Violent Nature breathed some much-needed dead air into the slasher genre with its back-to-basics plotting and unique perspective. A version of Friday The 13th told from Jason’s perspective, writer-director Chris Nash’s brutal and patient approach made for one of the hookiest genre experiments of the year. It also introduced us to Johnny (Ry Barrett), the firefighter mask-wearing, hook-wielding villain, who just wants his locket back. The vibes-first thrills didn’t skimp on the gore, though, as Johnny methodically folds his victims inside out. Now, it’s time to go back to camp.
The teaser trailer for In A Violent Nature 2 gives a good sense of where the series is heading. Diving deeper into the Friday The 13th comparisons, Johnny now has a full camp and plenty of time on his hands.
Here’s the synopsis:
Johnny’s violent rampage leads him to a summer camp, just as a young, outcast camper is forced to spend the night with his counsellor sister and her friends at their annual end-of-season party.
In A Violent Nature is expected later this year.
