Music composer-turned-filmmaker Palaash Muchhal is all set to direct a Mumbai-based thriller starring Shreyas Talpade and Daisy Shah in the lead. While the makers are yet to announce the film’s title, production is expected to begin soon. The project marks another step in Muchhal’s journey as a director. As buzz builds around the upcoming thriller, Daisy Shah has been looking back at her own journey in the industry, one that began behind the camera before she found herself sharing screen space with superstar Salman Khan.

Before becoming an actress, Daisy worked as an assistant to noted choreographer Ganesh Acharya. In an earlier interview with Bollywood Hungama, she revealed that she earned Rs 5,000 per day during that phase. Some months had barely ten days of work, while others kept her busy throughout. It was a time of hustle and uncertainty, but it gave her valuable industry exposure.

Daisy Shah on working with Salman Khan
Daisy began her acting career in Kannada cinema and also featured in several special dance numbers. It was during this period that Salman Khan offered her a role in his 2011 film Bodyguard. However, she chose to turn it down, a decision that many would consider bold.

Clarifying the timeline, Daisy said she never auditioned for Bodyguard. Instead, she had tested for Jai Ho. She met Salman while assisting Ganesh Acharya during a song shoot for Dabangg. During their conversation, she mentioned that she had started acting in South films. At the time, Salman was casting for Bodyguard and offered her a role that was eventually played by Hazel Keech.

Daisy admitted she declined the offer because she wanted a role that truly represented her strengths. Coming from a dance background, she hoped for a character that would allow her to showcase her performance skills more prominently. Working with Salman was important to her, she explained, but she wanted it to be in a meaningful capacity.

In another interview with Bollywood Now, Daisy confessed, “Mujhe laga ab mera patta kat gaya. After saying no, I thought, there goes my chance of acting with him. Nobody says no to him. But somehow, I managed to.” Nearly a year and a half later, Salman reached out again and asked her to audition for Jai Ho. This time, she cleared the test and landed the leading role opposite him. Despite mixed critical reviews, the film reportedly minted Rs 195 crore at the box office.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Daisy was last seen in the web series Red Room and will next appear in Palaash Muchhal’s upcoming thriller. On the other hand, Salman Khan is gearing up for the release of Battle of Galwan.
