Walsh, who has worked closely on many missing persons cases, said the fact that Savannah’s mom hadn’t been found makes it “very much a unique case.” Additionally, he noted that not many seniors go missing, and if they do, they typically wander off or aren’t able to navigate back home after driving somewhere.

“The way this investigation has ebbed and flowed, it’s gone from hot, to cold, to hot [and] back to cold again,” Walsh explained. “Our hope is that Nancy is found alive [and] that she is brought home and reunited with her family.”

In 1981, Walsh’s 6-year-old brother, Adam Walsh, was kidnapped and murdered. He now hosts America’s Most Wanted alongside his father, John Walsh. He shared that “not knowing was the hardest after” when Adam went missing.

“The two weeks that we looked for Adam, my parents couldn’t sleep,” he shared. “They would do anything to get Adam back, and we know what the Guthrie family is going through.”

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) launched its search for Nancy on Feb. 1 after the 84-year-old was last seen in her Tucson residence on Jan. 31. Since then, investigators released photos and video from surveillance footage of Nancy’s home showing a potential masked suspect.

Additionally, the Guthrie family has sent multiple video messages to the potential captor(s) after receiving several alleged ransom notes. Most recently, Savannah offered a $1 million reward for any information leading to Nancy’s return.
