A new investor’s presentation from IMAX has confirmed that the world-famous premium large format theater screens will be reserved for a galaxy far, far away, both this year and next.

To begin with, we already know that this year’s Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu will receive several weeks of IMAX support starting on May 22, with that run wrapping up prior to the release of Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day on June 12. That would leave potentially three weeks where the film will have the format exclusively to itself. The movie itself has multiple scenes that were filmed using the IMAX format to take advantage of it in a way that the show simply does not. But that’s not all. What’s new in this report is official confirmation that 2027 will have two spots reserved for the Star Wars franchise. The 50th Anniversary re-release of Star Wars will arrive in theaters on February 19, and will consist of the original film as it was first presented to audiences in 1977. Star Wars: Starfighter will hit theaters on May 28. You can view the full IMAX slate for 2027, as it exists right now, below:

The 2027 slate certainly seems more flexible in terms of what movies have yet to since there is more box office real estate that hasn’t been finalized by the major studios just yet, but it appears clear that Disney has staked their claims on both IMAX dates, with Starfighter already done filming and the original Star Wars grabbing a less crowded date to take advantage of having the biggest screens in town all to itself.
