The couple went through further rounds and treatments – spending £30,000 overall – before finding out that Hayley was pregnant through a home test in late 2024.
A scan three weeks later confirmed she was carrying triplets.
Hayley said: “Obviously I was only expecting one but the nurse’s face dropped and she looked grey as she said there were three.
“They were very negative as they were warning they could be born premature or with defects – it was very morbid.
“I was so happy after all the failed cycles and then it just felt like it was all taken away and I was so gutted.
“I know it was very high risk but there was no need to put the fear of God into me.”
As Jamie was away at the time, she kept the news to herself to avoid causing stress.
He said he was “shell-shocked” when Hayley told him.
“I don’t think I spoke for a couple of hours, but Hayley was so positive that she didn’t let any negativity or caution sway her,” he said, adding that he would have struggled “if I hadn’t had someone who shone that bright throughout”.
Hayley says her midwife was “so positive” and she ended up having a “very good pregnancy for triplets”.
