Coronation Street’s Katy Cavanagh joined Hamnet star son Jacobi Jupe at the 32nd Annual Actor Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday evening.

The actress, 52, who played Julie Carp in the ITV soap, looked worlds away from Weatherfield in a glamorous black sequinned gown.

Her dazzling dress boasted a chic boat neckline while adding a pop of colour with emerald earrings and a striking red lip.

Meanwhile Jacobi, 12, cut a dapper figure in a gold sequinned blazer which he wore with a smart black trousers and top.

Julie has reinvented herself as a showbiz ‘momager’ – a combination of mum and manager – as he also supports eldest son Noah, 20.

In the tearjerker, Jacobi plays the title role, Shakespeare’s son who died aged 11, while Noah plays an actor performing Hamlet in the Bard’s play said to have been inspired by that tragedy.

The 32nd Annual Actor Awards, formerly known as the SAG Awards, rolled out the red carpet at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Owen Cooper and Jessie Buckley led the British and Irish triumphs at the Actor Awards at The Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Hollywood was out in force to celebrate the best on-screen performances in TV and film of 2025 in the last major awards show ahead of the Oscars on March 15.

Whilst Ryan Coogler’s Sinners was the big winner of the night, British rising star Owen Cooper, 16, once again broke records, becoming the youngest individual winner in the history of the ceremony.

Owen broke the record previously held by Kate Winslet who was 20 when she won her first gong for Sense and Sensibility.

The win completes Owen’s sweep of major awards this season for his debut role as Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old murder suspect.

Last September, aged 15, he became the youngest male actor ever to win a Primetime Emmy, earning the gong for a supporting role in a limited series or anthology.

Then in January, while studying for his GCSEs, he became the youngest ever recipient of the Golden Globe best supporting actor on television.

That honour made him the second-youngest Golden Globe winner in history, after The Champ star Ricky Schroder, who was nine when he won new star of the year in 1980.

The Actor Awards, which were previously known as the SAG Awards until they were rechristened this year, honoured the Adolescence actor in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series category.

Owen beat out a strong field of British talent for the win, triumphing over his Adolescence co-star Stephen Graham as well as Charlie Hunnam (Monster: The Ed Gein Story) Matthew Rhys (The Beast in Me) and US star Jason Bateman (Black Rabbit).

Owen wasn’t there to collect his final gong of the season. Presenters Damson Idris and Yerin Ha announced the win, with Idris joking, ‘Owen couldn’t be here so I’ll be taking this home, thank you.’

Owen’s win was Adolescence’s only prize on the night, despite nominations for Erin Doherty and Christine Tremarco. They were both beaten to the Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A TV Movie Or Limited Series award by Michelle Williams for Dying For Sex.

Over in the film categories though, Irish star Jessie Buckley once again triumphed, completing her own clean sweep of awards season with the Best Actress prize for her lead role in Hamnet.

Jessie beat Rose Byrne, Kate Hudson, Song Sung Blue, Chase Infiniti, and Emma Stone to the gong, all but guaranteeing an Academy Award win in two weeks time.

During her speech Jessie paid tribute her British co-star Emily Watson, who was seen cheering her on from the audience.

‘To share those scenes with you in Hamnet, I will cherish that for the rest of my life,’ She told Emily. ‘Your wild imagination, your brave untethered womanhood, your ferocious gentleness is a guiding light to me.’

She added: ‘To get to work with my heart in my hand and stand beside my brilliant daring friends who show me their heart, I mean what a way to spend a life, thank you.’

Jessie’s Hamnet co-star Paul Mescal missed out on a win in the Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor in a Supporting Role group, with Sean Penn for One Battle After Another taking the prize.
