Nollywood actress and reality TV star Annie Idibia has addressed speculations surrounding her marital status, clarifying that she does not see herself as a single mum but as a single woman raising two kids.
In a post shared on her Instagram page on Monday, the actress reposted a message by an Instagram user, #katyeneff, who identifies as a “Feminine Magnetism & Aliveness Activator,” reflecting on identity, motherhood and personal growth.
“I’m not a single Mom. I’m a single woman raising two kids,” the post read.
It continued, “My children don’t need me married. They need me alive. They need me true. They need me free.”
The message stressed that her journey is not about “doing it alone” but about “legacy work—breaking the chains that told women to stay small, silent or suffering ‘for the kids.’”
“I’m not a single mom. I’m a woman rising… and two beautiful souls rise with me,” it added.

The post emphasised personal peace and emotional stability as central to parenting, stating, “My peace brings them peace. My joy brings them joy. My radiance creates their safety. This is what leading a family actually looks like.”
Reflecting on her growth, it continued, “My kids get to watch me grow. They get to watch me rise. They get to see a woman rebuilding her world with joy not bitterness. That is the greatest gift I’ll ever give them.”

Rejecting stereotypes often attached to single motherhood, the message read, “Being a ‘single mom’ comes with a story society wrote for us: overwhelmed, struggling, limited, surviving. That’s not my story.
Annie’s post comes months after the end of her marriage to singer 2Baba, born Innocent Idibia.
PUNCH Online had reported that their marriage ended in January 2025 after 2Baba publicly announced their separation. The couple share two children.
Following the split, reports suggested that Annie sought rehabilitation, while 2Baba moved on with his new fiancée, Edo lawmaker Natasha Osawaru.
Although the divorce has yet to be formally concluded, both parties appear to have embraced separate paths.
Since the separation, Annie has leaned into what she describes as a new phase of her life, marked by self-care and renewed focus on her daughters.
She embarked on a wellness retreat spanning Qatar, Singapore and Cape Town, South Africa, and has frequently shared reflective posts about healing, self-worth and growth.
In September, she posted a message that read, “I hope my daughter doesn’t accept things I’ve accepted, that she knows her worth from the start and that no matter what, she always has me in her corner.”
At the 17th Headies Awards in Lagos in May 2025, Annie publicly acknowledged the separation when she initially introduced herself as “Annie Idi…” before correcting it to “Annie Macaulay.”
Her latest post reinforces that narrative, one that centres on identity beyond marital status and frames motherhood as part of, but not the entirety of, who she is.
