A beautiful New Orleans wedding between two Broadway stars was featured in Vogue, where the couple talked about their love for the city and how they decided on the venue.
Eva Noblezada and Reeve Carney, who acted together in “Hadestown” and “Cabaret,” told Vogue they had always dreamed of a wedding in their “favorite city.”
Within a few hours of being in New Orleans, they were convinced.
The couple chose the lavish Hotel Peter and Paul in the Marigny district, a church converted into a wedding venue and boutique hotel.
“I never ever dreamed of having a destination wedding,” Noblezada told Vogue. “Reeve and I knew for several years that N’awlins was the city that we would ‘celebrate our love’ in, so we just wanted everything to feel as special and perfect as we felt about each other.”
According to Vogue, the October wedding featured music from the New Orleans-based Harry Hardin’s string octet, Louisiana fruit at the reception and was followed by a classic Second Line complete with lacy parasols.
Originally from New York, Carney has performed in New Orleans regularly for over a decade. Two years into their relationship, when the couple first traveled to the city together, they told Vogue they realized the city was where they would tie the knot.
Noblezada, of San Diego, even got ready for the day in a T-shirt that said “New Orleans” surrounded by red hearts and gemstone adornments.
The couple met in 2018 during Noblezada’s audition for “Hadestown” with the National Theatre’s London production. They completed their run of “Cabaret” on the West End in January.
“While we were planning the wedding, there were some moments when it seemed like our ideas were maybe too much or too big,” Noblezada told Vogue. “But we just kept reminding each other that this was our celebration of love. We deserved to have whatever the hell we wanted on our day. And it was the wedding of our dreams.”
