Actually regulations against just firing someone is present i many countries, instead getting fires takes a couple of months, but not in USA. USA has a lot of improvement to do.
I would never stay at work if I was fired. In Germany there is no hire and fire, we have laws. Normally three months before you are fired they had to tell you (to get unemployment money from the government) and normally you can stay at home for these three months with full pay. But on limited contracts (yearly contracts often used when you start in a new company but after three one year contracts you get automatically an unlimited contract) you know that your time ends at a special date except they give you a new contract earlier. If not, it is normal, that they tell you 3 months before because of the unemployment money you get ONLY if you tell the government three months BEFORE you get fired. But at my former job 20 years ago, my badass chef kicked me 7 days before my contract ends but told me all months before I get a new one. I leave immeadiatly the company, clear my desk and delete my computer.
