Undeniable truth: the Internet loves cat videos.

Now a pair of well-known individuals has taken on the role of public opponents of cats, which inspire thousands of cute and funny clips, and their statements have sparked a sharp reaction among social-media users.

On Monday, Doechii spoke about cats on Threads, where she unexpectedly shared her thoughts about animals that were once revered in Ancient Egypt.

People behave as if it’s a crime not to love cats, when they are, in fact, not friendly animals.

Cats, Dogs, and Online Reactions

She continued to respond to numerous astonished comments, sticking to her stance even in heated debates.

In a frame from last year, the stars of the film Hamnet – Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley – expressed their stance on cats after they were asked whether they prefer cats or dogs.

“A dog,” Buckley replied instantly, and when her resolve was underscored, she explained: “cats are mean.”

Earlier she noted a story that could affect her reputation: in the past with husband Freddie Sorensen, they had two cats, one of whom knocked her down.

“I came home, and on the pillow there was something like cat litter,” Buckley said, adding: “Is it me or the cats?” And she happily added: “I won!”

Online discussions on Reddit erupted: users argued about whether you can not love cats, but whether it is worth sharing these views so openly.

Nevertheless, cats remain a significant part of culture and home life, and their role in society intersects with politicization and everyday life. Is it permissible now to openly deride cats? And if everything turned around – could celebrities express their hatred of dogs?

Most likely, in the future the dialogue about cats will continue – a mix of humor, culture, and teen and adult thoughts about our beloved furballs will remain part of online dialogue.
