Simon Cowell and Alesha Dixon locked horns in a fiery disagreement
Britain’s Got Talent wouldn’t be the same without a bit of on-screen drama, and this week’s episode doesn’t disappoint as Simon Cowell and Alesha Dixon lock horns in a fiery disagreement. The situation escalated between chief judge Simon, 66, and Alesha, 47, over the coveted Golden Buzzer for a ‘talented act’, leading to Amanda Holden’s microphone being shattered in the process.
Despite Simon having already used his Golden Buzzer for Paul Nunnari, he attempted to bend the rules by selecting a second act. However, ‘competitive’ Alesha had other ideas and ‘dived’ onto the buzzer to prevent her ‘irritating’ colleague from claiming the act. She explained before the series: “I injured myself trying to stop Simon pressing the Golden Buzzer.”

Australian aerial silks performer Paul Nunnari got series 19’s first pass to the live shows from Simon Cowell after he dazzled with his skills – whilst still attached to his wheelchair.
Paul’s act came in the middle of the show. The Aussie buckled himself into his chair and then proceeded to use only his arms to climb the silks. While he held onto the material and a small loop at the top, another person came onto the stage to start swinging around the ropes until Paul was horizontal as he flew in circles around the silks.
And that wasn’t all – Paul then did the same thing but this time, he wasn’t holding on to the loop. Instead, he put it around his head so that he was only attached via his neck and could go hands free.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Alesha revealed: “Simon had been winding me up so much and we were having back-and-forth banter, he was on one, and I saw him go to press it and thought, he ain’t having it! I dived on it, broke Amanda’s microphone, and hit my hand! It is definitely the most physical golden buzzer I’ve ever done on the show!”
“It shows the competitiveness between me and Simon. I think it’s because we share the same birthday. It was a great act, I was thinking my 12 year old is going to love this act. I did it for my daughter more than myself; I’m not a big computer fan. Simon pressed his golden buzzer afterwards for an act I was devastated I didn’t press mine for.”

The golden buzzers made their debut on the programme in 2014 and have since been awarded to several memorable performers. Each of the four panellists, alongside presenters Ant and Dec, gets one chance per series to activate it, though this guideline has sometimes been bent. When activated, the contestant advances directly to the live rounds.
KSI granted the second golden buzzer of the series to 16 year old illusionist Rafferty Coope. The teenage sensation impressed the judges with his performance that merged his ‘two passions in life’, music and magic.
