Fashion loves turning against the tide. The thing about fashion is that when hemlines rise, they must fall again at some point. Wide leg jeans take over but soon enough skinnies make a comeback. And so it is with smoking, which, as everyone knows, is just about the worst thing you can do for your health – but which appears to be very much back in fashion.
This week, Kylie Jenner appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair, her legs wide, holding a cigarette in one hand and lighting it with the other. Her expression – insouciant, defiant – is a clear message that she does not care what you think of her pre-cancer phase.
