Actress, producer, and director Kerry Washington was honored with the “Courage Award” at “An Unforgettable Evening,” benefitting the Women’s Cancer Research Fund (WCRF).
Jennifer Lopez made a surprise appearance to present the “Courage Award” to Kerry Washington for her courage and advocacy for the cause. Upon taking the stage, Washington shared her personal story about her mother’s cancer diagnosis. Washington said, “I’m sharing this with you today because I want you to know the kind of courage that it takes survivors and families to walk through it. I want to say thank you to all of the researchers who advance this work… It’s not just about survival. It’s not just about withstanding. It’s about love. It’s about courage. It’s about having a chance to love each other in a deeper way than ever before because of the research that you do.”
