Congratulations are in order for Crown Prince Leka II of Albania, who has tied the knot with his girlfriend, Blerta Celibashi, in a private ceremony.

Following their engagement in October 2025, the couple said “I do” at Apponyi Castle in Slovakia and later took to Instagram to share the news.

A private royal wedding

The prince took to his official Instagram account to share two pictures of the happy couple standing hand in hand in front of the Slovakian venue. The bride wore a white tailored blazer with a matching skirt, hat and heels, carrying lilies as she smiled beside her suit-clad husband.

An official statement released by Royal Communications read: “The Royal Court has the distinct pleasure of announcing the marriage of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Leka of the Albanians to Miss Blerta Celibashi.

“The marriage was celebrated in a private ceremony, preserving its intimate and solemn character.

“The official photograph released on this occasion was taken at the Château Apponyi in Slovakia. It was the historic residence associated with Her Majesty Queen Geraldine of the Albanians, born into the Hungarian noble family of Apponyi, whose legacy remains a cherished part of the Royal Family’s history.

“Following the marriage, Princess Blerta will bear the family name Zogu and the title Princess of the Albanians. The Royal Family shares this joyful news with the Albanian nation and with friends around the world. Issued by the Albanian Royal Court, Tirana. 15 March 2026.”

Prince Leka’s second marriage 

This marks Prince Leka’s second marriage after his first union with Elia Zaharia, whom he married in 2016 and divorced in April 2024. They share one daughter, Princess Geraldine, 5, together.

Shortly after his divorce was finalised, the prince went public with Blerta in September 2024, and the couple announced their engagement just over a year later in October 2025. 

Sharing joyful pictures of the couple in each other’s arms, the announcement read: “The Royal Court is pleased to announce the engagement of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Leka II of the Albanians and Miss Blerta Celibashi.

“The engagement was joyfully celebrated on 11 October 2025, in Ksamil, Southern Albania, in the presence of family and close friends. The Royal Family shares their happiness with the Albanian people and extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have conveyed their kind wishes on this joyful occasion.”
