Joe Sugg has explained to fans how to pronounce his newborn son’s name, anticipating any confusion from friends and fans.
The YouTuber, 34, and Strictly Come Dancing star Dianne Buswell announced the arrival of their newborn baby boy last night, as they shared adorable snaps of the tot in the hospital. Joe and Dianne also announced the name chosen for their baby boy as they posted the sweet photos on their Instagram.
As the couple shared the images of their bundle of joy, Joe wrote in the caption: “Never felt a love like it,” followed by a blue heart emoji before he added: “Baby Bowden Mark Richard Sugg 16/03/26”.

After being flooded with messages of congratulations from celebrity friends and fans, Joe later posted on his Instagram story to clarify the pronunciation of his son’s name. As he shared another photo of his newborn as the new parents held his tiny hand, he wrote on top: “Bowden Sugg”, before adding in brackets: “Pronounced Bow like How not Bow like Row… hopefully that makes sense,” followed by a laughing emoji.
According to baby name website, The Bump, Bowden means “shelter”. It can also stand for the “one who brings It’s said to symbolise security, new beginnings, and ambition.
The middle names, meanwhile, have sweet family connections on both Joe and Dianne’s sides. Mark is Dianne’s dad’s name while Richard was Joe’s grandfather, who died in 2021. The couple met on the 2018 series of Strictly. They were partnered together for the dance contest and the public watched on as their partnership blossomed.

In a cute announcement when the show finished, Joe explained that while he had not won the Glitterball, he had won something much better. He then went on to confirm their romance.
Since then, the duo have continued to go from strength to strength. They always expressed their desire to have children together. And they got their wish when they announced in September that they were expecting a baby.
In an adorable video posted on social media, the pair painted a picture of three stick figures to make their pregnancy announcement public. As the couple shared the video, they wrote: “Our little baby boy we cannot wait to meet you”.
During her time on Strictly, Dianne was sadly hit with questions over her ability to dance while pregnant. She hit back at critics with a defiant dance video to get her message across. In the clip, Dianne danced energetically around her home, even pulling off a cartwheel. She captioned the video: “For all the people saying they can’t watch a pregnant girl dance! I just can’t help it when I hear the beat.”
Fans immediately flooded the comments with praise and heart emojis, and applauded her decision to stay active while expecting. One follower wrote: “I think it’s so cool that you get to dance along with your baby boy! The way you’re showing that women can still do the things they love while pregnant is just so admirable.”
Another added: “You go Gurl! I danced professionally (Contemporary) through most of my pregnancy & loved it though at 7 months decided it was enough for me. You do what feels right for you if you and your baby are healthy & you’re happy that’s all that matters. Women’s bodies are extraordinary.”
