Alison Hammond reveals the secrets behind this year’s Celebrity Bake Off

The 51-year-old presenter is returning to host the latest Stand Up To Cancer charity edition of the beloved Channel 4 baking show, and she has opened up about this year’s batch of famous faces testing their skills in the tent.

She told Closer UK magazine: “It wouldn’t be Bake Off without a few ‘Oh no!’ moments!

“Things collapsing, not setting or sliding at the last minute.. it’s all part of the fun.

“Most of the disasters were with Scott Mills.”

However, the This Morning star noted that generally, the celebrities are well equipped to deal with “the pressure”.

She added: “Performers tend to handle the pressure well, but baking still throws surprises at everyone. I tried to get Rag’n’Bone Man singing but he wasn’t having any of it.

“I definitely want to go to Aston [Merrygold]’s house, as you know his bakes are great and there will be dancing.

“We could do a few TikToks with his choreography wife, Sarah!”

Despite being for a worthy cause, Alison revealed that there was still a real competitive vibe between the bakers.

She said: “Everyone wanted bragging rights. There’s always at least one person who really wants that handshake. Deep down, everyone wants to win.

“You can always tell who’s watched the show a lot – they know the format, the terminology and they’re very aware of what can go wrong.”

Meanwhile, she also opened up on new judge Cherish Finden as the pastry chef makes her first appearance alongside next to Bake Off legend Paul Hollywood.

Alison revealed: “Cherish fit in straight away and felt like a very natural addition to the Celebrity Bake Off family.

“Paul still has that look that can make anyone nervous but Cherish is very serious, too – they balance each other well.

“Once everyone settled in, she was completely at home. I even sang Cherish by Madonna to make her feel welcome!”

As well as Aston, Rag’n’Bone Man and Scott, this year’s star studded cast will feature the likes of JoJo Siwa, Molly-Mae Hague, Vicky Pattison, Emmett J Scanlan, Edith Bowman and Ralf Little.

Rounding off the cast are Richard Herring, Joe Wilkinson, Babatunde Aleshe, Rose Matafeo, Judi Love, Tom Davis, Mark Wright, Nella Rose, Mutya Buena, Jon Richardson, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Sam Thompson, Roison Conaty, Alex Brooker and Ambika Mod.
