Meghan Markle should have one key takeaway from her Netflix deal coming to an end and fears that her brand, As Ever, will flop – and that is that she never should have snubbed the Royal Family. There was a way for Prince Harry and his wife to head over to the US to live a different life quietly; he could have come back for the big occasions but simply asked to live a quieter life because that’s what they wanted, and he knew the family was in good hands with his brother and father at the helm. Alas, that’s not what they did.
They went over to the US, after bashing everyone and their dog in the process, and then when they arrived, decided to bash them all some more. In one fell swoop they broke the bond between the couple and the UK, even for the rest of the people who were still supporting them at that time. It’s important to remember that people didn’t start off disliking the couple. 1.9billion people worldwide watched their wedding – nobody can say it was bad from the off.
But with the mistakes they made after the fact, it was doomed to fail. Still, they were given opportunities to see if their star power would work overseas, and it hasn’t. Netflix announced it was ending its parnership with Markle, with reports since claiming execs were reportedly “blindsided” over certain actions, something which the Sussexes have denied.
After this fall, now there’s concern about whether Meghan’s lifestyle brand As Ever could survive too, having previously been connected to her Netflix programme, and people are not confident.
To me, this seems like another major alarm bell that should tell Meghan that the way she and Harry left the royal family in the lurch wasn’t a good move, and it’s time to go back with their tails between their legs. The success they had hoped for in the US is non-existent, and there’s only one place left for them to try, and that is to get Harry back where he was born to be, and in the job he was born to do.
Whether you like Harry and Meghan or not, I think one thing that I hope we can all agree on is that Harry has spent a lot of his life damaged by the death of his mother, and if Meghan makes him happy then great, but we want him happy and with his family. He once had such a close bond with his brother, Prince William, and it’s a bond that, quite frankly, I’d like to see return. However, this won’t come with ease. They both need to work for it, and this is the perfect time to take a look at what they’ve got in front of them and realise that they actually need to work hard to get back into the royal fold.
Sussexes, you made a mistake. It’s not fine, not at all, but it can be redeemed. Meghan, give up on your niknaks, you can make jam jars in the UK. Apologise, grovel, and put Harry back where he belongs; quite frankly, he needs his family.
