Robert Pattinson appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! ahead of his film The Drama. During the conversation, Kimmel said that Pattinson lied about many things in the past, and proved it with a certain statement that Pattinson made. The two laughed it off and drew immense laughter from the audience.
Robert Pattinson on him being called a pathological liar
Robert Pattinson made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! ahead of the release of The Drama, where he stars alongside Zendaya.
During their conversation, Kimmel asked, “Did you meet anybody that you’d not met that you were excited to meet at the Oscars?” Pattinson said, “Lionel Richie.”
Kimmel said he was a big fan before delving into a made-up story about Richie. Right after he concluded, Kimmel said, “That’s not true. I made that up. And I did that because you make things up. And um, I was actually, we spoke about this on Monday with Zendaya while she was here.”
Pattinson responded to Zendaya’s claims, saying, “She told me like I’m doing a promoter. She’s like you’re a pathological liar. I’m like, what are you doing? Don’t say this.”
Jimmy Kimmel said, “You told her when you started shooting, as according to her, that you said, ‘ Hey, I just want you to know I used to be a pathological liar, but now I’m not,’ which we decided is what a pathological liar would say.”
Kimmel continued, “The reason I know it is because you have you’ve told me things over the years because you’ve been, I think you were like 22 or something the first time you did the show that turned out later to be patently false.” Kimmel went ahead to prove that some of the statements Pattinson had made were not true.
“I’m going to go through a list of some of your lies. And now you can tell me if I have any of this, but as far as I know, these are not true,” Kimmel said before reading out several false statements that Pattinson had made, including being a hand model as a child, something his mother denied. Only a couple of the statements were close to being true.
Kimmel concluded, “So anyway, I’m going to proceed with the interview, not knowing whether any of what you say to me is uh true or false.”
