The martial arts expert-turned-fictional Texas ranger was hospitalized in Hawaii after an unknown medical emergency, TMZ reported.

“It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning. While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace,” his family wrote on the beloved actor’s Instagram and Facebook pages.
His death triggered an outpouring of memorials from fellow Hollywood tough guys and fans.
Sylvester Stallone, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren were some contemporaries of Norris who took to social media to pay their respects.
“Deepest condolences on the passing of my friend, Chuck Norris,” Jean-Claude Van Damme wrote on Instagram. “We knew each other from my early days, and I always respected the man he was. My heart and prayers are with his family. He will never be forgotten.”

Dolph Lundgren called him “the champ,” and that he wanted to be just like Norris.
“Ever since I was a young martial artist and later getting into movies, I always looked up to him as a role model,” he wrote in his Instagram tribute. “Someone who had the respect, humility and strength it takes to be a man. We will miss you, my friend.”

Sylvester Stallone added: “I had a great time working with Chuck. He was All American in every way. Great man and my condolences to his wonderful family.”
Meanwhile, Lorenzo Lamas wrote on X: “Watch out evil world, there is an angel of consequence at the gates. Chuck Norris doesn’t just get wings, he gets even.”
Norris’ family’s heartbreaking tribute went on to note how, “to the world, he was a martial artist, actor, and a symbol of strength. To us, he was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, an incredible brother, and the heart of our family.”

They continued, in part: “While our hearts are broken, we are deeply grateful for the life he lived and for the unforgettable moments we were blessed to share with him. The love and support he received from fans around the world meant so much to him, and our family is truly thankful for it. To him, you were not just fans, you were his friends. Thank you for loving him with us.”

Norris celebrated his birthday earlier this month, although for him, age wasn’t anything but a number — literally.
“I don’t age. I level up,” he wrote in his March 10 birthday caption, in what would be his final Instagram post, alongside video of him sparring with a trainer in what appears to be a sunny paradise.
“I’m 86 today! Nothing like some playful action on a sunny day to make you feel young. I’m grateful for another year, good health and the chance to keep doing what I love,” he continued.

“Thank you all for being the best fans in the world,” Norris added. “Your support through the years has meant more to me than you’ll ever know.”

Fans of the icon were devastated by the news, but many pointed out that the seemingly invincible cult hero will forever live on.
“The world didn’t lose Chuck Norris, it just gained a guardian at a higher level,” one fan wrote.
Another commented: “Chuck Norris didn’t die, he welcomed death as his equal.”
One fan pointed out: “Chuck Norris never cheated death. He just proved it wrong. Bless you and your family Chuck,” while another pointed out: “It is not death that killed Chuck Norris but it was he who defeated it. You are Immortal! May God give you the place you deserve, safe travels Texas Ranger.”
Another fan mused: Chuck Norris didn’t die, Bruce Lee wanted a rematch, and Chuck Norris decided to oblige.”
It has been nearly 60 years since the martial arts expert-turned-actor made his acting debut with a cameo in 1968’s The Wrecking Crew starring Dean Martin.
It was his iconic fight with friend and kung-fu superstar Lee in The Way of the Dragon that catapulted him to fame before he went on to star in big- and small-screen projects including Missing in Action, Delta Force, Code of Silence, Invasion U.S.A. and Walker, Texas Ranger.
