Also she was just another young person that was influenced by her surroundings. We can't really expect her to have the same mindset and skills as an adult. So we can't judge her as an adult. She was a child and didn't have the skills, I imagine, to stand up and speak loudly, as she probably didn't think anything was wrong until she grew a developed brain.
