Cody Rhodes believes a global megastar is the best celebrity to compete in a WWE ring.
Over the last few years, WWE has had multiple celebrities step between the ropes in a more serious way than many stars in the past. These have included Logan Paul, Bad Bunny, and most recently, Jelly Roll, who is set to make an appearance at WrestleMania 42.
Cody Rhodes discussed celebrity wrestlers during an interview with NBC Chicago, and named Bad Bunny as the best WWE has ever had. He also credited the Grammy Award winner with bringing the company to Puerto Rico for Backlash back in 2023.
“I would say Bad Bunny is also — I hope I don’t offend anybody — the best celebrity wrestler WWE ever had. If you ever want to know what WWE, an event is like, Puerto Rico, him versus Damian Priest, it’s one of the greatest entrances in all of sports, and he had a huge part in WWE coming there.”
Rhodes then went a step further, saying he doesn’t see the star as a ‘celebrity’ wrestler anymore, but simply a ‘wrestler.’
“So as WWE looks to make its way back around the globe and hopefully Puerto Rico is definitely a spot we go to because it has a really rich wrestling history. I hope he’s part of it again because he’s no longer a celebrity wrestler. He’s just a wrestler, and a really good one.”
Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton Taking Place Early Due To Injury
It has been reported that Cody Rhodes’ match with Randy Orton was originally set to take place after WrestleMania 42. However, after Bronson Reed suffered torn biceps, WWE changed some of its plans for the Showcase of the Immortals, and this included bringing the American Nightmare’s clash with his former mentor forward.
There had been several possible scenarios for Rhodes before the title match was made, including matches with Drew McIntyre or Roman Reigns.
