Reacher star Alan Ritchson won’t face criminal charges and isn’t pursuing charges in relation to a well-publicized incident over the weekend in which the actor was involved in a violent confrontation, according to the Brentwood Police Department of Tennessee.
The police unit told us in a statement today: “The Brentwood Police Department, in coordination with the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office, has concluded its investigation into the incident involving Alan Ritchson and Ronnie Taylor on March 22, in Brentwood TN. After reviewing available evidence, including video footage and witness statements, authorities determined that no criminal charges will be pursued. Mr. Ritchson’s actions were found to be in self-defense. Although a potential reckless endangerment charge was considered, Mr. Ritchson declined to pursue charges. With the agreement of the District Attorney’s Office, the case is now closed, and no further action will be taken.”
TMZ broke the story over the weekend by publishing a video that featured Ritchson in a violent altercation with a man named Ronnie Taylor. The footage began with Taylor on the ground in a front lawn with Ritchson standing over him and hitting him multiple times. Footage subsequently emerged of Taylor’s bruised face. The “neighbor” claimed that he had asked Ritchson multiple times to stop making noise on his motorbike in the street.
In the past 24 hours additional footage surfaced, including from Ritchson’s own body cam, that showed Taylor angrily rushing into the street to confront Ritchson and blocking his way before the men got into their scuffle.
We have reached out to Ritchson’s reps for comment.
