Cardi B is making one thing clear about her parenting philosophy. For the star, love is unlimited, but laziness is not an option. The Grammy-winning rapper recently opened up about how she’s raising her children with structure, ambition, and a strong work ethic, and her approach is turning heads.

During her appearance on Jenna & Sheinelle, Cardi B didn’t hold back. She described a highly scheduled routine for her kids, emphasizing discipline early on. “Everyday I want my kids in after school,” she said. “Tutoring, piano, gymnastics, sports…”

She doubled down on her stance, adding, “I’m very strict. You have to do it.”

A No-Lazy Mindset Starts Young

Cardi B’s parenting strategy is rooted in effort. In a 2025 interview on On Purpose with Jay Shetty, she made her expectations crystal clear. “Don’t be a bum… please don’t be lazy,” she said. “Some people have the look, the intelligence, the talent… but they don’t go nowhere because they’re lazy. Don’t be lazy!”

For Cardi, this isn’t about pressure—it’s about preparation. She wants her children to develop discipline while they’re young so they can confidently navigate adulthood. “My kids, they have school until 3 p.m.,” she explained. “After school, my kids, four times a week, they have tutoring, reading, math… mandatory in my house.”

Structured Days, Purposeful Futures

Her children’s schedules reflect that philosophy. Her daughter, Kulture, is enrolled in piano and gym classes, while her son, Wave, participates in sports—on top of academic tutoring.

Cardi even addressed the common pushback from family. “But my mom will say, ‘They are tired. They just got home from school,’” she shared. Her response? “Well they would be tired with one hour on iPad…”

This perspective highlights a modern parenting debate: screen time versus skill-building. Cardi B is firmly on the side of productivity and long-term benefits. She also frames these activities as investments in her children’s future. “You’re gonna regret not knowing how to do these activities when you get older,” she said.

No Passes

Despite her massive success, Cardi B is determined not to raise entitled children. She directly addressed the concept of “nepo babies”—kids who benefit from their parents’ fame. “I’m not raising no nepo babies,” she said. “Be your own person, be your own human, be something… be something that you could be proud of.”

Cardi B isn’t against helping her kids financially. She made it clear she’s willing to provide support well into their young adulthood. But there’s a condition: ambition. “Even when they’re 18… if you want an apartment, if you want a car, I’ll give it to you,” she said. “But please, please become something.”

She added a blunt but telling line: “Please don’t be nothing. That would be the worst disappointment they could ever do.”
