Call The Midwife star Helen George enjoyed a family day out at Disney On Ice just days after opening up about receiving a late ADHD diagnosis.

The Birmingham-born actress, 41, appeared in high spirits as she attended the launch of Disney On Ice presents Into The Magic at London’s OVO Arena Wembley on Wednesday.

George was all smiles as she posed alongside characters from Beauty and the Beast, leading a host of celebrity guests including EastEnders actress Louise Lytton, former TOWIE star Lydia Bright and influencer Megan Grubb.

Her appearance comes after she revealed she was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) following the birth of her second child around three-and-a-half years ago.

Speaking on the podcast I’m ADHD! No You’re Not, George described having a “lightbulb moment” after a conversation with a friend who also has the condition.

“He was telling me all this, and then I suddenly went, ‘Oh s***, just like me,’” she said.

“It’s like the lightbulb moment that I needed.”

The actress, who has starred in the BBC drama since 2012, said she had never previously considered that she might have ADHD.

“I just thought I’m an actress and everyone’s batshit crazy,” she added.

George explained she is now learning how to manage the condition in a way that allows her to “function best” as a parent.

“I’ve got to work out how you can function best so that you can mother best,” she said.

George, who was a contestant on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2015, also revealed she is taking medication to help ease her symptoms, noting that greater societal support could change her approach in future.

“I don’t think this world provides the necessary support that we need,” she said.

“So therefore, whilst it doesn’t, I would like to take medication to see if that aids me.”

The latest Disney On Ice production, Into The Magic, is running at Wembley from March 25 to March 29.

The family-friendly show promises a high-energy journey through some of Disney’s most popular stories, with audiences able to see characters from Moana, Frozen, Coco and Cinderella brought to life on the ice.

Featuring world-class skating, elaborate costumes and special effects, the touring production is designed to immerse audiences in a magical, interactive experience.
