Cheryl Hines called out allegations that she and her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., sold Chelsea Handler a “toxic” $6 million Los Angeles home.
The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” alum admitted that she’s “questioning the timing” of the comedian’s claims, stating that they don’t “really hold water” during a forthcoming episode of the “Fearless” podcast, per People.
“She bought this house five years ago, and she’s just now complaining about it,” Hines said. “I don’t know that she’s getting a lot of sympathy from people. She’s buying a $6 million house.”

“And talking about how she feels duped and that we tried to sell her a house that was, her word, ‘toxic,’ which also doesn’t make sense,” Hines, 60, continued.
The “Waitress” star claimed that she reached out to Handler, 51, when the home was first purchased, telling the producer to call her if she needed anything.
“I did write her a personal note when she moved in, just saying how much we love the house,” she explained, saying she also expressed her hopes for Handler to have “a beautiful life in [the] house.”
According to Hines, Handler’s allegations don’t “really hold water.” Seen here: Handler on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” last week.
The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” alum stated that Handler bought the home five years ago and is barely speaking up.
“I left my number,” Hines said. “So I don’t know if we were trying to unload a toxic house on her. I wouldn’t have left my number.”
The “RV” star speculated that Handler’s allegations may stem from her wanting attention, claiming that it’s “probably fun for her to make fun of” Kennedy, 72.
“So, what are you going to do? She’s trying to get a laugh, I guess, and some likes,” Hines speculated.

A rep for Handler wasn’t immediately available to Page Six for comment.
Earlier this month, the “This Means War” star claimed she was unable to move into the Brentwood home for five years during an episode of her “Dear Chelsea” podcast.
She described the property as “f–ked up,” stating that the issues with the home were overlooked in the inspection.
“It was a disaster, and I didn’t know it going in because everything was, you know, under wraps,” Handler claimed, alleging that contractors told her the house “is the most toxic environment” and had to undergo two years of renovations.

“Cheryl Hines left me a note saying, ‘Let us know if there’s anything we can do for you, Chelsea,’” the “Chelsea Lately” alum said. “I’m like, ‘yeah, how about a f—king foundation. That’s something you could do for me. Anyway, I’m not angry about it or anything. I’m totally over.”
Insiders told Page Six that Handler was using the opportunity to “malign and discredit” the Hines and Kennedy, who wed in 2014.
“Any issues with the property were only discovered as Chelsea’s team started to tear down walls for a major remodel,” the insider said. “It’s an older house, and she had every opportunity to check it out.”
