Not every woman wants to be a mom, this country does not stigmatize childfree men like Leonardo DiCaprio.

Why is anyone asked this question?

She looks incredible. There is something to be said for the beautiful women of the 90s and 2000s, who matured before the current times of 20 year old starlets going under the knife for fillers and chin implants.

For me, I wonât be having kids because I know that I wouldnât be a good parent. I think the belief that everyone should just have kids no matter what is selfish. I feel as though it would be selfish for me to have kids knowing that I cannot be a good parent, and every child deserves good parent(s) and a safe environment.

it’s like asking me why I’m not a surgeon. because it’s expensive, grueling, and I’d be bad at it Sharon.
cheers to all my childfree girlies~

I totally agree with this. And I donât think people should be asked these types of questions. Itâs their own business why they chose to have kids or not pls just let them do their thing

I think sometimes that women have to put on this front of âoh Iâd be bad at itâ as an excuse not to have children, but I think a lot of women just donât want that path in life.
Like, no, Iâd actually be really good at raising children I just have other things Iâd like to do.

I hate the fact that women are still being asked questions about why they haven’t had children. Noone is going up to women with children asking them why they never became a film star.Â

I’m exhausted and I thought the lady doing the interview was Heather Graham and I was like, “Damn, she looks different.”
I donât understand this obsession with wanting *other people* to be parents.
Do we not see the state of the world? The economy? Cost of childcare? Impending WW3?

I think it’s a win win situation. She didn’t want kids and she didn’t have one.

I’d be a great mom. Doesn’t mean I have to be or want to be.
I enjoy only having to be responsible for myself. And occasionally my husband.
I don’t even want a pet because I’m not sure I want to deal with their needs.

Iâm 31 and can barely take care of myself, let alone a child! Plus Iâm a teacher so I already spend most of my days with children. I canât IMAGINE coming home after work and not getting to relax đ

My (male) coworker couldnât make sense of it when I said I donât want kids and I wouldnât be happy at all if Iâd had one. âI canât imagine, then what is your purpose?â đ Another male coworker asked whoâd take care of me when Iâm older, like having kids guarantees you a caretaker.
Itâs the fact that you get questioned âbut whyâ every time you say you donât want to.

This conversation is so tired. If you donât want kids donât have them. Stop asking women why this and that. Who cares. Thatâs what they desire with their lives. I donât want any person to invest in something they donât want. Being a parent has made me feel extremely fulfilled and happy. That is not everyoneâs experience or desire and thatâs ok. End of discussion.

She wrote and directed a movie Chosen Family, in part about being childfree and from having abusive parents. https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2025/apr/28/i-stopped-talking-to-my-parents-and-life-opened-up-heather-graham-on-family-ageing-and-creepy-film-makers
