BBC presenter Amol Rajan has signed up for the new series of Celebrity Traitors, insiders claim.
The first celebrity series of the BBC hit included big names such as Alan Carr, Stephen Fry and Jonathan Ross in the line-up – with the other contestants dubbing them the “big dogs” of the competition. But Claudia Winkleman has admitted she thought Celebrity Traitors bosses were “joking” when they told her the stars who have signed up for the next series.
Amol, 42, is the latest name who has reportedly signed up for the BBC hit show hosted by Claudia Winkleman. He could soon be swapping the serious world of politics and University Challenge for reality TV as filming for the new series begins in the next few months.

Amol, who has been a stand-in presenter for The One Show, is best known for grilling politicians on BBC Radio 4 and took over from Jeremy Paxman on University Challenge. Prior to his BBC presenting career he was the editor of The Independent newspaper. Now the Cambridge university graduate will be hoping to outsmart a host of famous faces to win a massive cash prize for charity.
A TV source told The Sun: “Getting Amol is a massive coup. He is used to holding the country’s sharpest minds to account and spotting a lie from a mile away on the Today programme. Producers know he won’t be easily fooled by his fellow celebrities. He has the perfect poker face and the academic brains to go all the way, whether Claudia taps him on the shoulder to be a Traitor or leaves him as a Faithful.”
The insider added: “Amol is a huge fan of the show and couldn’t resist the chance to take part. Viewers are going to see a completely different, much more ruthless side to him.”
