King Charles III has amassed an estimated fortune of $860 million despite never drawing a conventional salary.

The Sunday Times 2025 Rich List places him amongst Britain’s wealthiest individuals, with his income derived from three distinct revenue streams. Charles’s most significant source of income is the Sovereign Grant.

Each year, the UK Treasury allocates a proportion of profits from the Crown Estate — a vast portfolio encompassing London property, retail operations, and more than 191,000 acres of land — to the Royal Family. News of King Charles’s net worth comes after reports that the Royal Family “set up a war room” over ex-Prince Andrew’s arrest crisis.

In 2025-26, Charles’s allocation surpassed $176.6 million, representing a rise of more than $61 million on the previous year. The funds themselves don’t actually flow into the King’s personal accounts; they finance royal personnel, property upkeep, and the 2,458 events attended by royal officials in 2025.

His personal earnings come from the Duchy of Lancaster, a private estate founded in 1399. Its net proceeds feed into the Privy Purse, his private funding mechanism, which reached over $38 million in 2024-25. Those funds also cover the upkeep of private estates including Sandringham and Balmoral, reports the Mirror US.

His third revenue stream, comprising personal investments, savings, and private properties, remains undisclosed to the public. Prior to ascending to the throne in September 2022, Charles received his income through the Duchy of Cornwall. Despite being diagnosed with cancer in February 2024, Charles managed to carry out 535 royal engagements throughout 2025, more than double the figure from the year before.

In December 2025, Charles disclosed that his treatment programme had been reduced. Looking to 2026, he has over 15,000 miles of international travel scheduled, including a possible visit to the U.S. in April.

The Royal Family is said to be in turmoil following the former Prince Andrew’s arrest last month. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror US, Ian Pelham Turner, former royal photographer, offered his perspective on the scandal.

Pelham Turner said, “None of the Royal Family, including King Charles and Prince William, were informed beforehand that the arrest was going to take place. I am sure nerves will be on frantic keel behind the scenes with the Royal Family concerned about what explosive details may come out.”

He added, “I think a war room may have been set up at Windsor with top current and previous royal consultants brought in for their advice.”

According to the royal expert, both Charles and William reject any “predetermined involvement” in how the arrest was conducted. This is viewed as “the Royal Family showing the iron fist in the velvet glove,” said Turner. Charles stated at the time of his brother’s arrest: “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office.”

He went on to say: “What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.” Charles has pledged his “full and wholehearted support and co-operation.

“This is the biggest crisis facing Buckingham Place and the Royal Family,” said Pelham Turner. “While doing interviews outside Buckingham Palace the King was speedily rushed by global media with outriders clearing the way.”

Now, the King has instructed his disgraced brother to vacate the Royal Lodge mansion on the Windsor estate, where he had resided for over two decades, paying a peppercorn rent after securing an initial lease valued at £7.5 million ($9,994,124.78) in 2002. Andrew denies any wrongdoing.
