I think it is a completely unnecessary indulgence. That said, I used to work at a local high-end department store in Charlotte, NC after high school back in the mid to late 90s. I remember we had an elephant skin legal pad folio in our leather goods selection. I was shook back then.
I love leather goods, especially alligator and crocodile. Kardashians, not so much.
She should have told the truth and instead highlighted how old that bag was and the value of quality and care. Modern society is extremely wasteful but once upon a time, you only needed to invest in one quality item; take care of it and it will serve you. I was gifted a fur coat 20 years ago (it too was a vintage find from my mother) and I still use it unfailingly every winter. I think I only have three pieces of winter outerwear and don't intend on buying anything else. I don't particularly care for Hermes bags, I do think they're overpriced and over hyped, but a bag that can last decades is never a bad investment.
Anyways, I'm sure it was amazing for you to see this bag again after you sold it. Must have been a deja vu moment 😂
