Scott Mills has been sacked by the BBC following allegations about his personal conduct.

The BBC says "while we do not comment on matters relating to individuals we can confirm Scott Mills is no longer contracted and has left the BBC".

Mills took over the breakfast show from Zoe Ball in January 2025.

The 53-year-old joined Radio 2's weekday schedule in 2022 when he replaced Steve Wright as the host of the afternoon slot.

Prior to that he worked on Radio 1 and hosted a weekend show on BBC Radio 5 Live.

  1. This is big considering there’s not really been any rumours around him, and this is the biggest radio show in the UK

  2. This feels like a random thing to note but he made a cameo in the EastEnders flashforward episode at New Years, so they clearly felt comfortable enough about his position as of January and whatever’s happened is relatively out of the blue

  3. Okay this must be BAD because Scott is a BBC staple and less powerful people have been protected by them fairly recently

Really strange! He always seemed well liked and respected by colleagues so I’d be surprised if it was some sort of bullying incident.

The fact that they fired him so suddenly makes me worry that it’s something really bad.

It must be serious if they’re straight up sacking him with immediate effect. I’m also guessing he’s lost his Eurovision coverage job as well.
    Guess the speculation can begin.

“Personal conduct” is a very interesting choice of words when “misconduct” is the go-to word for doing something really heinous.

as someone who never liked Scott Mills for no reason other than I didn’t like his vibes, I feel vindicated

  8. No suspension, immediate sacking?
“*Personal conduct*”… so either substance abuse, violence, sex or language. Or Bamboleo Wednesday on a Tuesday.

  9. Wow that’s a biggie! There’s never been a single rumour about him (as far as I’m aware) but it must have been something serious for him to be sacked straight away, who knows!

I wonder who’ll replace him on the breakfast show

  10. Like everyone else here I’m shocked how out of the blue this is. So whatever it is must not only be bad, there’s ample amount of evidence as well.

  11. Genuinely shocked by this. Never heard any rumours about him and he’s always seemed like a good egg. Not long ago he won Celebrity Race Across the World and him and his husband seemed lovely

  12. Blimey! That’s seemingly come out of nowhere. I suppose they’ll need to find someone for Eurovision now. It will probably be Rylan but perhaps Mel Giedroyc could do it.

The fact that it was an immediate sacking and not a suspension, as well as the email circulated among BBC staff (saying that they understand his many colleagues are also shocked), makes me quite nervous. As many have already said, he’s always been just *there* in UK media.

  14. This has really shocked me. He seemed like a BBC golden boy.

I’ve no doubt the press will do their thing and we’ll find out what it is before too long, but I really hope it was nothing involving a victim/victims. Then again it wouldn’t surprise me now I know he’s done *something*, because I have no faith in men, especially in positions of power.

Please dont be yet another nonce at the BBC… Just have been fired for normal shit. Like, being late to work all the time. Or eating all the jam doughnuts in the morning. Something normal for once!

  16. Anyone watch the ‘race across the world’ with him, he was awful. Wondered then how he could be so popular. Fact is he seemed to be the BBC golden boy so he must have done something really bad.

  17. Any indication on what this might have been? It must be really bad for such a big name to disappear so suddenly.
