Howie Mandel Apologizes After Viral Exchange With Kelly Ripa on ‘Live’ | E! News
Howie Mandel recorded an apology to Kelly Ripa after the pair went back-and-forth about whether saying someone looks good for their age is a backhanded compliment. He shared on Instagram March 29, “Not only do I want to say I’m sorry to Kelly but, and this is the hardest part, you’re right. You’re absolutely right. And I’m sorry I didn’t see it that way. But after a lot of thought and self-reflection, I look great for my age, I really do.” In the conversation during the now-infamous ‘Live’ appearance, cohost Mark Consuelos backed his wife up, saying how Howie looks “great.” But the “Here’s the Deal: Don’t Touch Me” author wasn’t having any false flattery. An aunt worked at Wolfgang Puck’s Spago restaurant in Beverly Hills. He was a regular and always acted like an A-hole. Management allowed him to denigrate staff because he’s famous.

i watched this as it aired and i was so surprised there was a purported controversy.. It seemed like typical howie banter, and there was zero arguing. he's a friend of the show; i never take him seriously and they don't either.
He's a nutcase. His apology seemed fake and made it worse. If he just said "I was in a foul mood, I'm a comedian, I should know better…"

The moment where someone said he looked good… his initial response was nothing to apologize about, 8n facr it is COMPLETELY NORMAL for someone to react that way . After all the hem hawing you just say thank you at the end and then guess whatc- the moment is over, it is gone and you move on

I didn't think that he needed to apologize. I think they had two comics styles rhat didn't jive. If he said same to IDK Howard Stern or Bill Burr they would all be laughing. Their humor didn't fit was all.
