“He was told that federal rules prohibit TSA employees from accepting direct cash gifts.” The constitution forbids Trump from accepting a $400 million jet from the Qatari government, but he did it anyway. If I were them, I’d tell anyone asking me to return the cards to piss off.

If your employer stops paying you, I’d argue you can ignore their policies against cash gifts.
