A24 has a bunch of promising films on the horizon, including Undertone and Backrooms, but there’s also an additional film on the production company’s docket, which is slated to arrive in a couple of weeks. Known as Mother Mary, it’s a film that merges pop music with horror, ultimately delivering a creepy and psychosexual story where Anne Hathaway is at the centre.
The general premise of the film revolves around a musical icon played by Hathaway who reunites with an estranged fashion-designer friend in a bid to see the pair work together on behalf of creating dresses for the pop star’s ongoing tour. However, this sees long-buried issues brought back into the light, ultimately setting the pair down a path neither wants to explore.
Written and directed by David Lowery, Mother Mary also features Michaela Coel and Hunter Schafer, and is slated to arrive in cinemas this month, with certain markets able to see the flick from April 17. It even features new and original music from Jack Antonoff, Charlie XCX, and FKA Twigs, making it a must-see for pop music fans around the world.
