Taylor Sheridan couldn’t care less if Hollywood executives and TV critics don’t like what he makes.

Sheridan is responsible for some of the biggest shows on TV over the past decade, and none were bigger than “Yellowstone.”

The neo-Western series changed Sheridan’s career and TV in general. It spawned spinoffs, prequels and led to Sheridan creating a TV empire that is unrivaled.

Taylor Sheridan hopes to upset critics and executives

While millions of fans love Sheridan’s work, critics love to bash his series, and he has had an uphill battle with networks and studios throughout his career.

His thoughts?

He hopes people get upset when they read what he’s cooking up for normal Americans who love entertaining shows.

Sheridan said the following on “Tom McCutcheon’s THE SHOW,” according to Whiskey Riff:

“‘Yellowstone,’ there’s a lot of petulance in there, and lot of things that are digs at my business that only my business is aware of being a dig. I stick a lot of them in ‘Landman’ too. I stick a lot of them in a number of other things too… I should have trigger warnings on my shows (that read), ‘If you are a television critic or a Hollywood executive, this is meant to traumatize you. I’m trying to piss you off. If you think I’m trying to piss you off, you’re exactly right. I am trying to piss you off.”

How about his feelings towards critics?

Pretty much the exact vibe.

“The madder you are, the madder your review will be. The more people read it, the more curious they’ll be. Every time I get a bad review, I’m like, ‘Thank you,'” the “Yellowstone” creator further explained.

Sheridan’s strategy seems to be working well because he parlayed multiple hits into a new deal with NBCUniversal. The deal reportedly is worth more than $1 billion.

It turns out that when someone creates a show or movie with the intent of appealing to normal people and not the wokes, it’s a very successful strategy.

Give the audience good guys fighting bad guys, action, suspense, a few twists and people will tune in.
