      Isn’t broken porcelain extremely sharp and dangerous?

      Like, people have bled out and died from sitting on broken toilets that shatter and cut them.

      With no other context, the designer of the posted dress seems to be relying on the “oooh wow they made something new with a crazy medium” sort of shock factor to earn the attention of the cameras. When artists make pieces that are very niche in the art community, they will definitely be compared to whoever has done it before. In this case that would Ling Xiaofeng. This dress looks like someone googled Xiaofeng and said “I’d like to emulate his work, but I want to make it look like I finished it in 30 minutes”.

      Artist Li Xiaofeng is a pioneer in this niche subject. His use of materials, as well as the way in which he presents his work,are just so much more inviting to the eye. I understand that there’s a difference between wearable pieces and gallery pieces, but it’s just hard to see it and not think about Xiaofeng.
