There are some serious changes happening over on The Pitt. Ayesha Harris, who plays Dr. Parker Ellis, is getting bumped up to series regular for season three. Hooray! But unfortunately, the good news comes with some bad, as Supriya Ganesh, who stars as Dr. Samira Mohan, will be leaving after this season.

Variety reports that Ganesh’s departure was story-based, as she plays a senior resident who’s spent most of this season trying to figure out her next move after her residency ends. “Dr. Ellis is pulling a double shift next season!! So excited y’all! Bittersweet I won’t be working with my girl [Supriya Ganesh],” Harris wrote on Instagram Stories on April 2. Ganesh has not released a statement since the news broke.

As for what’s next for Ganesh, she wants to take a break from the stressful world of the emergency room and do something new. “The Pitt is so realistic that I would love to do something that’s just absurd and weird. Maybe a horror or an arthouse indie movie,” she told Cosmopolitan in January 2026. “There’s so much for South Asian women to explore and do in this industry, and I think things are changing now, but there’s so much further to go. I just really want to break new ground in film and play a character that’s just really weird and interesting and very different from Samira.”
