Premier League star Kieran Trippier has finally sold his six-bedroom mansion after nearly two years on the market – but appears to have gone down to a heavy defeat after slashing more than £1.1million off the asking price.
The former England ace put the property up for sale for £3.8million back in July 2024 after his marriage to wife Charlotte, 37, hit the rocks.
With no buyer in sight, he dropped the price to £3million last year before finally accepting an offer for £2,675,000.
It comes as the defender – who is now going through a divorce – appears to be set to move on from Newcastle United after four years at the club.
The couple, who have three children, bought their ‘dream home’ on a secluded modern estate in Northumberland for £3.1million in February 2022 just weeks after Trippier, 35, returned to the UK after a three-year stint in Spain playing for Atletico Madrid.
At the time they appeared to have snapped up a bargain after the house – described by estate agents as ‘a masterpiece of modern luxury’ – was sold to its first owners for £3.25million when it was built in 2009.
They went on to spend £1.6million on renovations and refurbishments – turning the property into what appeared to be a classic ‘footballer’s mansion’.
Set on an exclusive private road in a prestigious development, the 12,500 sq ft mansion has its own cinema and games room as well as a ‘spectacular leisure suite’, featuring a 10 x 5 metre swimming pool, steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and changing facilities.

Despite being a lovely property, it was put on the market in July 2024 when Trippier’s marriage hit the rocks with an asking price of £3.8million and failed to sell in all that time

When Trippier owned the property, the games room – which is on the first floor – featured a pool table and was decorated with rows of framed shirts emblazoned with the names of some of the world’s top players including Lionel Messi and Mo Salah.
Trippier is said to have a personal collection of around 200 jerseys, largely amassed from swapping shirts with opponents after matches.
The mansion is set in extensive grounds with a summer house which Trippier had used as a gym and a large patio area spanning the width of the property, which was said to be ‘perfect for outdoor entertaining’.
When it was up for sale, estate agents described the ‘exquisite’ property as ‘truly a dream home that combines luxury living with cutting-edge design in an idyllic location’.
They went on to call it ‘a private oasis’ that provides ‘unparalleled tranquility and elegance’.
In a glossy brochure the estate agents wrote: ‘This extraordinary home has been meticulously designed and renovated to the highest standard, where no expense has been spared.’
They added that the house boasted ‘opulent interiors, state-of-the-art technology, and beautifully landscaped grounds’.
The ground floor features two formal reception rooms at the front of the house along with a ‘stunning’ open-plan kitchen, dining and family area with ‘a south-facing aspect’ which is said to be ideal for entertaining.
Two ’striking’ solid walnut staircases featuring bespoke Italian chandeliers, lead to the first floor which has five double bedrooms, each with private en-suites and walk-in wardrobes.
The master bedroom also has a massive dressing room.
Describing the set-up the estate agents said: ‘The expansive primary suite enjoys breathtaking views of the southern aspect and includes a luxurious four-piece en-suite with a freestanding bath, double waterfall shower, and jets, as well as a walk-in dressing room with bespoke fitted units.
‘The leisure suite is conveniently accessible from the primary bedroom. A cinema/games room offers a state-of-the-art projector and ample seating while a separate hallway leads to a study and a hidden staircase that leads to the second floor.’
In a nod to the marriage failing, Charlotte wrote in an Instagram story: ‘Sooner or later you get over the s*** you swore you’d never get over and it’s the best feeling in the world’
The former couple – pictured on a night out – got engaged in Cyprus in the summer of 2015 before tying the knot in June the following year. Charlotte has moved back to the North West
The brochure adds: ‘This top floor serves as a self-contained annex, complete with a spacious bedroom, an open en-suite with a marble double shower and freestanding tub, and an adjoining living area with a kitchen and dining space.’
Trippier, who was born in Bury and started his career in Manchester City’s youth system, is thought to have met Charlotte when he was playing for Burnley.
The couple moved down to London when Trippier signed for Tottenham Hotspur in 2015, when they got engaged. They married in Cyprus the following year.
Charlotte, who used to run a fashion blog with her sister Rosie Wray, gave birth to their first son Jacob in December 2016. Daughter Esme Rose was born in February 2020 and the newest addition to their family was in 2022 when they welcomed their third baby.
Prior to their breakup, Charlotte and the children regularly attended Newcastle United games to watch Trippier in action and she had been credited with playing a major part in his success.
Charlotte has spoken candidly about her difficulties when they moved to Spain.
Appearing with her husband in a Prime Video documentary about Newcastle United she said: ‘When we first moved to Madrid, I was on my own for long. I felt so lonely, ‘cos people don’t see that side of things.
‘About four months in, I was saying to him “I don’t know if I can stay here Kieran, I feel depressed. I’ve got no family over here, I’ve got no friends here.”‘
Speculation surrounding the couple’s marriage emerged when Charlotte did not join other WAGs in Germany to follow England’s campaign in the Euro 2024 tournament.
She did not attend any matches and provided an insight into their troubles when she took to Instagram just 48 hours before England’s final group game against Slovenia and posted a cryptic message.
In her post, Charlotte wrote: ‘Sooner or later you get over the s*** you swore you’d never get over and it’s the best feeling in the world.’
After the tournament, Tripper retired from international football with sources saying he hoped that it would remove a ‘layer of pressure’ as he attempted to rebuild a new life for himself.
The couple headed off on separate holidays. Trippier flew to Turkey with his close pal and England teammate Kyle Walker, who was enduring his own marriage difficulties, while Charlotte went to Santorini with her sister and posted a series of glamorous pictures of herself in stunning outfits and bikinis.
Shortly afterwards their home was put up for sale and weeks later it emerged that Charlotte had ditched her wedding ring and moved back to the north west where she had moved into a mansion in Cheshire with their three children.
Last summer Trippier was seen cosying up to Geordie Shore star Chloe Ferry, 30, during a break in Ibiza.
The house, which featured a games room with various signed framed players’ shirts on the wall was finally snapped up for almost £2.7million

Around that time Trippier announced on Instagram: ‘Myself and Charlotte separated over a year ago. I have not commented previously as it is a private matter and we want to protect our children.’
Just weeks ago, it was reported Trippier was spotted on a night out with an OnlyFans model 14 years his junior.
In February, he went for dinner with Kehlani Webster, 21, in brasserie Babucho in a converted church in Newcastle before appearing to hand her his beige tracksuit top to help against the cold.
A video had previously emerged of Trippier on a night out in Newcastle with pole dancer Sienna Day, who has also worked as an OnlyFans model.
